Course Objectives
Discuss the guidelines for esthetics relative to the hard and soft tissues of the mouth. Review the anatomy and biologic principles of soft tissue healing and suturing. Describe and compare crown lengthening on natural teeth and implants for esthetics. Observe crown lengthening procedures on patients in conjunction with implant insertion or uncovery. Present step by step procedures required for root coverage of natural teeth. Compare the techniques of keratinized tissue grafts, connective tissue grafts and freeze dried acellular dermis grafts used for root coverage. Appreciate the similarity and differences in soft tissues around implants and natural teeth. Apply the anatomy and biology of soft tissue to the keys for soft tissue management techniques around dental implants. Learn the soft tissue timing techniques involved in the soft tissue drape around dental implants. Understand the step by step techniques in ridge preservation following the extraction of natural teeth.
